Biography

Melynda Nuss

Melynda Nuss represents the interests of writers, artists, musicians and other creative professionals. She has helped clients from all over the country negotiate contracts with  both large and small publishers, advised clients on what to look out for in their relationships with their agents, and helped authors and illustrators agree on deals that compensate both parties fairly. She is dedicated to helping creative professionals understand their legal rights, and offers advice on copyrights, defamation, internet terms of service, and first amendment issues.

As a former college professor, Dr. Nuss enjoys teaching people about the changing state of the creative industry. She has presented seminars on copyrights, publishing contracts, and defamation for the Writers’ League of Texas, and she is available to speak to large and small groups about her subjects of interest.  She also volunteers her time with Texas Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts (TALA) and Volunteer Legal Services (VLS).

Dr. Nuss is a member of the Texas Bar and the Writers’ League of Texas. She lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, author Jose Skinner.
